Our story

Nobody screams when they're choking. That's the part no one warns you about.

No cough. No cry. Just silence, and the longest seconds of your life. This is the night that started RescUAid, and why we believe every home deserves one more option.

The night everything changed

It was supposed to be an ordinary family dinner.

DinnerBefore

Plates passing. Too many conversations at once. My nephew was laughing at something, a grape in his hand, doing what little kids do at dinner.

0:00The moment

Then he stopped. No cough. No cry. Just wide, panicked eyes and a chest that wouldn't move.

0:03Silence

The whole table went quiet. And for a second that felt like a minute, nobody moved.

0:05Panic

My sister froze. I froze. Everything I thought I knew about choking just… vanished. One thought filled my head: if I get this wrong, he doesn't get another chance.

0:10Relief

By some miracle, we got it out. He gasped, screamed, and clung to my sister's neck. I'll never forget that sound. It was the most beautiful noise I've ever heard.

LaterThat night

Everyone went home. I couldn't sleep. I kept replaying those ten seconds, and one question wouldn't leave me alone: what if it hadn't come out?

We had smart phones, smart TVs, smart doorbells. And nothing in the house built for the scariest ten seconds of our lives.

What we learned

You know the Heimlich. You'd call 911. So did we.

And you absolutely should. First aid and 911 always come first. But that night taught us something nobody likes to think about: knowing what to do doesn't guarantee the obstruction clears right away. We call that space the Rescue Gap.

Step 1

Call 911

Help is on the way. The typical ambulance takes about 7 minutes to arrive, and around 13 in rural areas.

Step 2

Back blows & abdominal thrusts

The recommended first response. It works in many cases, and everyone should learn it.

The Rescue Gap

"It's still not out."

The moment nobody plans for. Your hands are shaking, help is still minutes away, and you need one more thing to try. That's the moment we built RescUAid for.

So we built it

Emergency equipment that works for shaking hands.

That night I started searching. Most of what I found looked like cheap gadgets from a scrolling ad. Nothing that felt like real emergency equipment, and nothing I'd trust my nephew's life to.

So we set a standard: it had to be simple enough to use in a panic, by a grandparent, a babysitter, or someone alone. No batteries. No charging. No guessing.

The result is RescUAid: a mask that seals over the mouth and nose, and a one-way suction handle that helps lift an obstruction up and out. Three motions. Seal. Press. Pull.

What we believe

The best RescUAid is the one you never have to use.

Think about your fire extinguisher. You hope it hangs on the wall forever. That doesn't make it a waste. It means you did your job before the emergency, not during it.

That's how we want you to think about RescUAid. Not as a scary gadget, but as quiet, ordinary preparation, right next to the smoke detector and the first-aid kit.

"I hope I never need it. I just never want to be standing there wishing I had one."

A feeling parents and grandparents share again and again.

Our promises to you

We earn your trust the same way you'd want a friend to.

1

We'll always tell you first aid comes first

RescUAid is one more option, never a replacement for 911, back blows or abdominal thrusts.

2

We won't scare you into buying

Choking is frightening enough. We'd rather give you a plan than a panic attack.

3

We'll keep it simple

Two mask sizes. Three motions. Instructions you can read together at the kitchen table tonight.

4

We'll stand behind it

90 days, risk-free. If it's not right for your family, email hello@rescuaid.com and we'll make it right.

One last thing we learned

A RescUAid can't help if it's sitting at someone else's house.

Choking doesn't wait for you to get home. That's why we make it easy to keep one wherever the people you love eat.
